AFFF Waste Management

It has been well documented that PFAS in Fire Fighting Foam has been an issue for many years. Already banned in New Zealand and the US, recently the EPA introduced Restrictions on certain AFFF’s, and The European Chemicals Agency is planning other restrictions that will apply to all AFF containing PFAS.

Whilst many progressive thinking Contractors within the Fire Extinguisher Trade have already made the move to Water-Mist, it still leaves a large stock of PFAS containing AFFF Portable Fire Extinguishers on the market creating a problem for the trade.

The Solution – The National Fire Equipment Recycling Facility.

We can provides a trade focussed solution for the disposal of Returned/Recovered Foam Portable Fire Extinguishers through process and incineration.

*The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published a proposal on February 7, 2023, that would ban the production, use, and sale of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the European Union. The proposal defines PFAS as “any substance that contains at least one fully fluorinated methyl (-CF3) or methylene (-CF2-) carbon atom (without any H/CI/Br/I attached to it).”
